Job summary

Veilant is seeking an onsite System Administrator to provide direct support for customer workstations and a mixed Linux/Windows environment. You will be the primary hands-on resource, troubleshooting issues and maintaining mission-critical systems in a customer-facing setting.

This role requires a few years of sysadmin experience, strong Linux focus, and the ability to collaborate with the NOC and engineering teams while on-site five days a week. A security clearance with polygraph is mandatory.

Qualifications

• Active security clearance with polygraph.
• 2-5 years of professional system administration or technical support experience.
• Hands-on Linux administration experience.
• Experience administering Windows environments, including Windows 11 Pro and Active Directory. Must be comfortable managing Group Policy Objects, supporting networked printers and scanners, and using PowerShell to troubleshoot and automate tasks in secure environments with limited internet access.
• Experience supporting Windows desktops or workstations.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues across user workstations, virtual environments, peripherals, and customer-facing systems.
• Comfortable working onsite at a customer facility five days per week.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with customer users.
• Ability to elevate issues clearly and effectively to operations or engineering teams.
• Willingness to support a mixed environment that includes Linux, Windows, physical systems, virtual systems, printers, and VoIP phones.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily onsite support for customer users, systems, and technical infrastructure.
• Perform system administration tasks in a Windows & Linux-forward environment.
• Support Windows desktops and workstations as needed.
• Troubleshoot issues across physical workstations, virtual workstations, printers, VoIP phones, and related customer technology.
• Support and administer our multi-mission platform, including troubleshooting problems as they arise.
• Act as an onsite liaison between the customer, internal Network Operations Center, and engineering teams.
• Escalate complex technical issues to the appropriate internal teams while maintaining customer communication.
• Help ensure customer systems remain operational, responsive, and properly supported during business hours.
• Work closely with existing onsite personnel during onboarding and transition periods.
