Job summary

Entergy is seeking an Engineer I (Trans) to perform a broad range of transmission engineering tasks, including planning, design, project management, and construction support. Onsite role with potential for travel up to 25% in Louisiana/New Orleans.

The position covers routine to senior levels (I–Sr) depending on experience, with a focus on substation design, reliability, and compliance with NERC/SERC standards. Collaboration across disciplines is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required or related field.
• PE may be considered with Engineering Technology degree.
• FE/PE certifications preferred.
• Onsite work with potential for travel up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Performs a wide variety of detailed engineering analysis in Transmission-related areas such as planning, maintenance, design, project management and construction, and operations.
• Uses engineering principles to solve problems and develop cost-effective solutions.
• Applies knowledge of electrical codes, procedures, standards, processes, and policies.
• Supports activities to comply with industry standards (NERC, SERC) and other utility regulations.
• Works with other disciplines within Transmission and other units to achieve goals.
• Assists with storm/emergency restoration efforts as needed.
• Designs substation assets including site and buswork layouts, grounding, foundations, equipment drawings.
• Develops detailed engineering scope documents and estimates.
• Performs substation design analyses (ground grid, lightning, bus fault).
• Specifies devices/equipment for substation design and construction.
• Orders and tracks substation material; oversees design contractor work.
• Provides technical support during construction and commissioning.
• Maintains substation design standards with Design Basis/industry committees.
