The State of Indiana seeks an Archivist to manage imaging, storage, and disposition of state records in Indianapolis. You will ensure compliance with federal and state regulations, improving processes and record accuracy. This onsite role collaborates with agency leadership to optimize archival workflows.

Qualifications

• Specialized knowledge of archival theory, standards (DACS/EAD) and practices.
• Experience with archival systems, imaging, and document management tools.
• Ability to apply retention schedules and provide access to records.
• Strong research, analytical, and written/oral communication skills.
• Considerable Indiana history knowledge is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Preserve and provide access to state archival records, including historic collections.
• Research and recommend strategies to plan and implement archival programs.
• Develop policies, procedures, and manuals aligned with program goals.
• Create exhibits, outreach, and educational programs about Indiana history.
• Advise agencies on transfer, preservation, and accessibility of records.
• Appraise records and contribute to retention/disposition schedules.
• Process and organize incoming government records per standards.
• Coordinate data migration for digitization projects and manage finding aids.
• Support staff and volunteers; staff reference desk and assist patrons.
