Job summary

SQA Services, Inc. is seeking a Staff Accountant to support the Finance team with payroll and accounts receivable/payable, on-site in the Los Angeles area.

This is a full-time, 1-year contract opportunity and requires strong organization and attention to detail. Key duties include billing and collections, account reconciliations, payroll processing support, benefits tracking, month-end and year-end close, and financial reporting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, or related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience, including significant Accounts Receivable experience.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
• Excellent time-management skills and a process-oriented approach.
• Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage billing activities, credit and collections, bank deposits, cash receipts, customer account maintenance, and accounts receivable records.
• Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable.
• Collaborate with client representatives and internal teams to research and resolve billing, payment, and other accounting-related inquiries.
• Process payments and maintain accurate accounts payable and disbursement records.
• Assist with payroll processing, including reviewing employee time and expense reports.
• Assist with benefits administration, unemployment and workers’ compensation claims, and tracking employee vacation and sick leave balances.
• Prepare financial reports, account schedules, and supporting documentation.
• Month-End & Year-End Close: Assist with account reconciliations, journal entries, closing activities, and preparation of supporting records.
• Research discrepancies, reconcile accounts, and support general accounting activities as needed.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting procedures, increase efficiency, and enhance accuracy and consistency.
• Respond to inquiries professionally, investigate discrepancies, communicate findings, and coordinate with stakeholders to resolve issues.
• Support other accounting and administrative functions and special projects as assigned.
