Job summary

Avantor, based in Greenville, NC, seeks an Onsite Services Inventory Specialist to manage consumables, chemicals, and samples. The role emphasizes accurate inventory control, customer service, and cross-functional collaboration with sales and manufacturing.

You will perform cycle counting, purchasing support, and use SAP/CisPro systems to fulfill duties; safety and quality adhere to SOPs for on-site operations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years in inventory management, material handling, or customer service.
• Proficient in Word and Excel; MS Office experience required.
• Experience in shipping, inventory or purchasing preferred.
• Excellent customer service and written/verbal communication skills.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs and follow safety protocols.
• Background checks and security clearances may be required.

Responsibilities

• Handle inventory management tasks for consumables, chemicals, and samples.
• Monitor slow moving/dead inventory; conduct cycle counts and physical inventories.
• Provide daily customer service; coordinate with internal teams.
• Perform purchasing tasks including back-order reporting and expediting.
• Coordinate order entry, reporting, metrics, and cost-savings tracking.
• Operate SAP, CisPro, and other systems to fulfill duties.
• Maintain SOPs and contribute to process improvements.

The Opportunity

In this role, you will report to the Manager, Onsite Services and will work closely with the Avantor’s Lab and Production Services team of over 1,500 on- and off-site expert personnel – and our customers – to perform customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.

Location: Greenville, NC

Shift: 7:30AM - 4:00PM (Monday - Friday)

Hourly pay range: $22.00 - $25.00

What We’re Looking For

• High School diploma or GED is required,
• Minimum 2 years of inventory management, material handling, and/or customer service experience is required,
• Microsoft Office experience required with proficiency in Word and Excel.
• Understanding and experience in either shipping, inventory, and/or purchasing required.
• Excellent customer service skills including a professional, can-do demeanor required.
• Effective communication in writing and verbally with both the customer and internal contacts required.
• Able to lift 50 lbs.
• Proactive thinking with the ability to prioritize tasks, self-manage and motivate, in order to meet goals.
• High regard for safety, quality and adherence to protocols, policies and procedures
• Cross referencing and inside sales experience strongly desired but not required.
• Conform to all company and customer requirements for background checks, health and safety issues, security clearances required.

Avantor’s Lab and Production Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support.

In This Role You Will

• Be responsible for tasks in inventory management (consumables, chemicals, samples, etc.) and accurate inventory control, processing requests leading to inventory movement on and off site and fulfilling customer metric reporting.
• Perform inventory management related functions such as monitoring slow moving and dead inventory, conduct cycle counting, yearly physical inventories, and reporting.
• Provide daily customer service functions and communicate with the customer and other Avantor functions relative to inventory management.
• Perform purchasing functions including but not limited to back-order reporting and expediting, document control, and records maintenance.
• Coordinate all customer service-related functions including order entry, reporting, maintaining metrics, and cost savings tracking.
• Run consigned, non-consigned, customer owned and/or 3rd party inventory.
• Use Avantor and customer computer systems (SAP, Citrix, Intranet, Avantor Inventory Management Systems, CisPro, and customer specific systems) in fulfillment of job duties.
• Meet goals and objectives regarding safety, performance, and quality.
• Craft programs for enhanced service efficiencies.
• Work with Avantor Sales Force and manufacturing representatives.
• Document organizational change.
• Deliver inbound packages to customer contacts.
• Update and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Other duties as assigned.
