Job summary

Avantor in Greenville, NC is seeking an Onsite Services Inventory Specialist to join a team of 1,500+ personnel. You will manage inventory, assist customers, and coordinate purchasing while ensuring safety and accuracy.

Shift is 7:30AM-4:00PM, Monday to Friday, with hourly pay in the mid-$20s. Responsibilities include cycle counts, order entry, and reporting, using SAP and other systems, while maintaining SOPs and collaborating with the sales force and production teams.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• Minimum 2 years of inventory management, material handling, and/or customer service experience is required.
• Microsoft Office experience with proficiency in Word and Excel is required.
• Understanding and experience in shipping, inventory, and/or purchasing is required.
• Excellent customer service skills with professional demeanor required.
• Effective written and verbal communication with customers and internal contacts required.

Responsibilities

• Be responsible for inventory management tasks (consumables, chemicals, samples) and accurate inventory control.
• Perform cycle counting, yearly physical inventories, and reporting.
• Provide daily customer service and communicate with customers and Avantor functions.
• Perform purchasing tasks including back-order reporting and expediting, document control, and records maintenance.
• Coordinate all customer service-related functions including order entry, reporting, and metrics.

Job description

The Opportunity: In this role, you will report to the Manager, Onsite Services and will work closely with the Avantor’s Lab and Production Services team of over 1,500 on- and off-site expert personnel – and our customers – to perform customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science.

Location: Greenville, NC

Shift: 7:30AM - 4:00PM (Monday - Friday)

Hourly pay range: $22.00 - $25.00

What we’re looking for:

• High School diploma or GED is required
• Minimum 2 years of inventory management, material handling, and/or customer service experience is required
• Microsoft Office experience required with proficiency in Word and Excel
• Understanding and experience in either shipping, inventory, and/or purchasing required
• Excellent customer service skills including a professional, can-do demeanor required
• Effective communication in writing and verbally with both the customer and internal contacts required
• Able to lift 50 lbs
• Proactive thinking with the ability to prioritize tasks, self-manage and motivate, in order to meet goals
• High regard for safety, quality and adherence to protocols, policies and procedures
• Cross referencing and inside sales experience strongly desired but not required
• Conform to all company and customer requirements for background checks, health and safety issues, security clearances required

In this role you will:

• Be responsible for tasks in inventory management (consumables, chemicals, samples, etc.) and accurate inventory control, processing requests leading to inventory movement on and off site and fulfilling customer metric reporting
• Perform inventory management related functions such as monitoring slow moving and dead inventory, conduct cycle counting, yearly physical inventories, and reporting
• Provide daily customer service functions and communicate with the customer and other Avantor functions relative to inventory management
• Perform purchasing functions including but not limited to back-order reporting and expediting, document control, and records maintenance
• Coordinate all customer service-related functions including order entry, reporting, maintaining metrics, and cost savings tracking
• Run consigned, non-consigned, customer owned and/or 3rd party inventory
• Use Avantor and customer computer systems (SAP, Citrix, Intranet, Avantor Inventory Management Systems, CisPro, and customer specific systems) in fulfillment of job duties
• Meet goals and objectives regarding safety, performance, and quality
• Craft programs for enhanced service efficiencies
• Work with Avantor Sales Force and manufacturing representatives
• Document organizational change
• Deliver inbound packages to customer contacts
• Update and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Other duties as assigned
