Jacobs in Baltimore, MD is seeking a Safety, Health and Environment (SH&E) Specialist for a large-scale tunnel project. The role focuses on site safety oversight, regulatory compliance, and risk management across field and office environments.

You will spend most time on site with the integrated Amtrak/Jacobs team, driving safety programs and incident investigations. Ideal candidates have eight years of field experience, STSC, OSHA 30 Construction, and strong communication skills to coordinate

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or demonstrated equivalency in health, safety or construction fields.
• 8+ years of relevant field experience on heavy civil construction projects.
• STSC certification, OSHA 30 (Construction) and First Aid/CPR current.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to operate project fleet vehicles.
• Proficiency with MS Office and project management software.
• Ability to read construction drawings and understand HSSE requirements.

Responsibilities

• Administer site safety oversight and maintain logs using PM tools, email, and portals.
• Lead safety meetings; communicate HSSE findings to client and contractors.
• Maintain a program-wide safety plan compliant with OSHA and FRA standards.
• Investigate injuries, identify root causes and corrective actions.
• Collaborate with client operations to manage SH&E aspects of construction.
• Participate in safety audits and review contractor safety plans.
• Deliver basic HSSE training and ensure proper PPE and certifications.
• Engage with on-site teams to enforce safety procedures and incident reporting.
