Job summary

Vallen is seeking an On-site Service Technician II focused on Instrument, Fire, and Respiratory services in the Vallen Safety Services group. You will perform inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs on safety equipment for established customers on a scheduled basis.

The role requires High School or GED, 1–3 years of related experience, and at least two manufacturer/state certifications. You must be mechanically inclined with strong communication and the ability to read and write English,

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Conduct service calls for safety equipment installations and repairs.
• Identify equipment discrepancies and document findings.
• Prepare Technician Worksheets (TWS) and reports accurately and timely.
• Inspect, test, maintain and repair life safety equipment including Fire Extinguishers, Fire Hose, Gas Detection Monitors, Respiratory Equipment, Fall Protection, and Safety Showers/Eyewash units.
• Ensure testing/repair documentation is complete and submitted for invoicing.
• Maintain required documentation and certifications up-to-date.
• Assist warehouse personnel with order fulfillment as needed.

Position Summary:

Put your maintenance and repair skills to good use at Vallen as an On-site Service Technician II focused Instrument, Fire, and Respiratory services in the Vallen Safety Services group! In this position, you will perform inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs on safety equipment for established customers on a scheduled basis.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conducting service calls.
• Identifying equipment discrepancies.
• Preparing accurate and timely Technician Worksheets (TWS) and reports.
• Providing customer service in the area of Inspecting, Testing, Maintenance and Repairs of Life Safety Equipment. Including, but not limited to: Fire Extinguishers, Fire Hose, Gas Detection Monitors, Respiratory Equipment, Fall Protection Equipment and Safety Shower / Eyewash Units.
• Responsible for providing the testing and repair documentation and ensuring it is filled out accurately, completely and turned in for proper invoicing.
• Responsible for ensuring the customer has all required copies of all required documentation upon servicing equipment.
• Basic knowledge of regulatory standards pertaining to assigned duties, i.e., State, OSHA, and NFPA regulations, NFPA Guidelines and Vallen SOP's.
• Always exhibit safe work practices.
• Assist in shipping and receiving, unloading trucks, checking in merchandise, matching purchase orders to sales orders & distributing to sales associates for processing.
• May include the use of company provided assets such as but not limited to: Company Vehicle, Inventory, Safety Equipment, Laptop, BR Scanner, Test Equipment, Tools, Radio, Cell Phone, Fuel Card and/or Credit Card.
• Associates are required to maintain proper care of all assets as defined by Vallen policies

Qualifications

Job Qualifications:

• High School or GED
• Minimum 2 Certifications (manufacturer /state) in a related field
• Minimum 1-3 years related experience
• Mechanically inclined
• Strong Communication Skills
• Specific -- RELEVENT experience
  • Experience in the Inspection, Testing, Maintenance and Repair of Life Safety Equipment.
  • Ability to repair and service equipment sold by Vallen.
  • Maintain minimum productivity of 95% within 60 days.
  • Advanced Industry segment knowledge.
  • Current Motor Vehicle License with good driving record.
  • Commercial Driver's License required if carrying loads of hazardous materials.
  • Proficient with hand tools.
  • Able to complete repairs and maintenance of equipment in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Able to provide assistance, advice and training to Vallen associates and plant personnel.
  • Assist warehouse personnel with order fulfillment if needed.
  • Keep all certifications and licenses current and renewed by completing continuing education as required.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process and quality instructions).

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

• Working conditions will vary with service work being performed indoors and out in the field.
• Possibility of working in hazardous environments when working within a plant which would require safety precautions and appropriate equipment.
• Ability to work in climatic weather (cold/heat) during day or night operations.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
• Occasional lifting of items weighting a maximum of 55 lbs.
• Ability to climb stairwells up to 15 levels high.
• Ability to ascend and descend ladders (step, extension, cage) up to 24' high.
• Able to walk at a normal pace for up to 15 continuous minutes.
• Able to work from a standing position for 8-10 hours.
• Bending, climbing, and stooping as needed for access of equipment to repair and service.
• Pass all test requirements to be approved to work offshore. (If Applicable)
