Job summary

Vallen is seeking an Onsite Service Technician I focused on Instrument, Fire, and Respiratory services in the Safety Services group in Houston. You will perform inspections, testing, maintenance and repairs on safety equipment for established customers on a scheduled basis.

You will work with Life Safety devices such as Fire Extinguishers, Gas Detectors, Respiratory Equipment, and related safety gear, ensuring proper documentation and compliance with OSHA/NFPA standards.

Qualifications

• High School or GED is required.
• Minimum 1 Certification (manufacturer/state).
• Minimum 1-year related experience.
• Proficient with hand tools and able to read/interpret instructions.

Responsibilities

• Conducting service calls for safety equipment.
• Inspecting, testing, maintaining and repairing life safety devices.
• Prepare accurate Technician Worksheets and reports.
• Provide documentation for invoicing and ensure compliance with SOPs.

Position Summary:

Put your maintenance and repair skills to good use at Vallen as an Onsite Service Technician I focused Instrument, Fire, and Respiratory services in the Vallen Safety Services group! In this position, you will perform inspections, testing, maintenance, and repairs on safety equipment for established customers on a scheduled basis.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conducting service calls.
• Identifying equipment discrepancies.
• Preparing accurate and timely Technician Worksheets (TWS) and reports.
• Providing customer service in the area of Inspecting, Testing, Maintenance and Repairs of Life Safety Equipment. Including, but not limited to: Fire Extinguishers, Fire Hose, Gas Detection Monitors, Respiratory Equipment, Fall Protection Equipment and Safety Shower / Eyewash Units.
• Responsible for providing the testing and repair documentation and ensuring it is filled out accurately, completely and turned in for proper invoicing.
• Responsible for ensuring the customer has all required copies of all required documentation upon servicing equipment.
• Basic knowledge of regulatory standards pertaining to assigned duties, i.e., State, OSHA, and NFPA regulations, NFPA Guidelines and Vallen Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Always exhibit safe work practices.
• Assist in shipping and receiving, unloading trucks, checking in merchandise, matching purchase orders to sales orders & distributing to sales associates for processing.
• May include the use of company provided assets such as but not limited to: Company Vehicle, Inventory, Safety Equipment, Laptop, BR Scanner, Test Equipment, Tools, Radio, Cell Phone, Fuel Card and/or Credit Card.
• Associates are required to maintain proper care of all assets as defined by Vallen policies.

Job Qualifications:

• High School or GED
• Minimum 1 Certifications (manufacturer /state)
• Minimum 1-year related experience
• Mechanically inclined
• Specific -- RELEVENT experience
  • Experience in the Inspection, Testing, Maintenance and Repair of Safety Equipment.
  • Ability to repair and service equipment sold by Vallen North America.
  • Current Motor Vehicle License with good driving record.
  • Commercial Driver's License required if carrying loads of hazardous materials.
  • Proficient with hand tools.
  • Able to complete repairs and maintenance of equipment in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Assist warehouse personnel with order fulfillment if needed.
  • Maintain minimum productivity of 80% within 60 days.
  • Keep all certifications and licenses current and renewed by completing continuing education as required.
  • Ability to read, write and comprehend English (operational, process and quality instructions).

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

• Working conditions will vary with service work being performed indoors and out in the field.
• Possibility of working in hazardous environments when working within a plant which would require safety precautions and appropriate equipment.
• Ability to work in climatic weather (cold/heat) during day or night operations.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
• Occasional lifting of items weighting a maximum of 55 lbs.
• Ability to climb stairwells up to 15 levels high.
• Ability to ascend and descend ladders (step, extension, cage) up to 24' high.
• Able to walk at a normal pace for up to 15 continuous minutes.
• Able to work from a standing position for 8-10 hours.
• Bending, climbing, and stooping as needed for access of equipment to repair and service.
• Pass all test requirements to be approved to work offshore. (If Applicable)
