Nathan Kunes Incorporated (NKI) is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer based in San Diego for a 100% onsite, full-time role on a 9/80 schedule. You will design, develop, support, and analyze communications and encryption devices, and provide leadership briefings to guide acquisition decisions.

Ideal candidates have a strong background in cybersecurity and systems engineering, U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain a Secret DoD clearance, and a track record of applying high-assurance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline.
• 5–15 years of experience in Cybersecurity, Systems Engineering, or Network Security.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capability.
• Ability to research and design new technologies for integration into a system.
• U.S. citizenship with ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance at the Secret level; TS/SCI preferred.
• Knowledge of DoD cryptographic policies and publications (CJCSN 6510, NSA Cryptographic Equipment Decertification, NMO memos).
• Knowledge of a wide range of high-assurance encryption products, including secure voice and link encryption.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical support to the program cyber lead.
• Advise on deployment of cryptographic equipment and mitigate emerging threats.
• Provide subject matter expertise in encryption technologies.
• Provide technical analysis of emerging cryptographic products in support of acquisition decisions.
• Liaise with cryptographic device vendors to determine device lifecycle.
• Provide briefings to leadership.
• Support budget and fielding decisions.
