Job summary

Charles Schwab is seeking a Senior Software Engineering Lead to design and deliver large-scale lending platform solutions, including PAL, across Home Mortgages and securities-based lending. You will own architecture decisions and hands-on delivery for multi-system workflows in a regulated banking environment.

You will mentor engineers, lead Java/Spring Boot development, promote AI-assisted tooling with guardrails, and ensure security, reliability, and production readiness on-site in Texas.

Qualifications

• 10+ years designing, developing, and delivering large-scale distributed software systems.
• Deep hands-on experience with Java, Spring, and Spring Boot and REST APIs.
• Experience leading solution design for multi-system initiatives in regulated environments.
• 8+ years building cloud-native architectures, microservices, and deployment automation.
• Strong automated testing strategy experience (unit, integration, acceptance).
• Experience with distributed and relational stores (MongoDB, PostgreSQL/DB2).
• Experience with event-driven architectures (Kafka, RabbitMQ) in low-latency contexts.
• Experience implementing OAuth, SAML, or similar security frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership and hands-on delivery for large cross-cutting lending initiatives.
• Own solution design and architectural decisions for multi-system workflows.
• Collaborate with product, architecture, and business to translate roadmaps into pragmatic approaches.
• Set patterns and guardrails across code, integration, and testing; mentor engineers.
• Lead engineering execution, review designs, and unblock complex delivery challenges.
• Champion AI-assisted development with responsible standards in a regulated environment.
• Drive engineering excellence: testing, reliability, security, and production readiness.
• Triage production issues and feed insights into architectural improvements.
