Job summary

Consumers Energy is seeking an Owner's Engineer for its Gas Compression Project Engineering team. This contract position operates onsite in Ira Township, MI, traveling to compressor stations 3–5 days weekly, to oversee design, procurement, and construction activities.

You will coordinate with external engineers, vendors, and contractors to ensure safety, schedule adherence, and budget compliance. The role requires ABET-accredited mechanical engineering, 5+ years of relevant experience, and

Qualifications

• Experience in design, construction, or operation of gas compressor station equipment.
• Understanding of applicable codes and industry standards.
• Ability to coordinate between external engineers, suppliers and contractors.
• Strong communication with stakeholders and field teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering support for development activities including feasibility studies and cost estimating.
• Oversee detailed design documents by external engineers of record.
• Review drawings and calculations for construction projects.
• Develop technical specs and bid documents for engineered equipment and construction.
• Lead technical bid evaluation for projects and contracts.
• Communicate with stakeholders to ensure technical objectives are met.
• Perform shop inspections and field engineering to support construction issues.
• Support testing, commissioning, scheduling and budgeting.
• Attend project coordination meetings and assist closeout documentation.
