Job summary

The Fischer Group is seeking an IT Senior Data Platform Engineer to own and modernize our enterprise data platform. You will manage SQL Server and cloud environments, focusing on performance, security, and automation in a 100% onsite role in Erlanger, KY.

You will lead reliability, implement automated solutions, and collaborate with analytics, development, and operations teams to support mission-critical systems and analytics initiatives.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on Microsoft SQL Server administration in production
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent practical experience
• Experience supporting SQL Server in AWS and/or Azure environments
• Strong SQL expertise and ability to optimize queries with developers
• Scripting and automation using PowerShell and/or Python
• Experience building monitoring, alerting, and incident response processes

Responsibilities

• Administer, optimize, and maintain SQL Server environments including performance tuning and HA/DR design
• Design, implement, test backup/restore and disaster recovery capabilities
• Lead migration to managed cloud services (RDS/Azure SQL MI)
• Build monitoring, alerting, and observability across SQL Server and cloud services
• Implement database security best practices and encryption
• Drive automation via PowerShell/Python for provisioning and operations
• Collaborate on IaC, RBAC, logging, tagging, and CI/CD deployments
• Modernize data movement with CDC and incremental ingestion for analytics
• Standardize ETL/ELT with robust logging and retries
• Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and postmortems
• Support secure SaaS/vendor integrations across multiple teams
