Job summary

General Motors in Orion, Michigan seeks a Senior Controls Engineer to lead advanced controls engineering for vehicle assembly manufacturing. You will drive capital projects, develop budgets, and ensure reliability and cost efficiency across plant systems.

You will guide complex electrical projects, mentor engineers, and apply data-driven methods to improve throughput, safety, and quality while coordinating with plant operations and suppliers.

Qualifications

• Advanced ability to program, optimize, and troubleshoot Rockwell/Allen-Bradley ControlLogix platforms.
• Advanced troubleshooting and programming with FANUC robotics.
• Expert-level ability to read, interpret, and modify electrical schematics and controls documentation.
• Strong expertise in troubleshooting complex automated manufacturing systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead controls engineering strategy and execution for manufacturing systems within a vehicle assembly facility.
• Serve as the technical authority for PLC, robotics, and network architecture standards.
• Develop and approve cost estimates, investment forecasts, and business cases for capital projects.
• Provide technical mentorship to Controls Engineers and related teams across multiple shifts.
