Job summary

CFS in Columbia, South Carolina is seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant to join our team onsite. This role focuses on owning the accounting function, managing multiple bank accounts, cost accounting, and month-end close.

The ideal candidate has 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience, a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, and strong communication; you will collaborate with operations to resolve accounting issues and support audits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.
• 5–8 years progressive accounting experience.
• Strong cost accounting experience required.
• Experience managing and reconciling multiple bank accounts.
• Strong understanding of general ledger accounting and month-end close.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to resolve discrepancies.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage and maintain accurate general ledger accounts and supporting schedules.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations across multiple bank accounts, researching and resolving discrepancies.
• Support the full month-end and year-end close processes.
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
• Perform detailed cost accounting and analyze costs, variances, and trends.
• Analyze financial data and investigate unusual transactions or variances.
• Assist with financial reporting and provide meaningful insight into accounting results.
• Maintain accurate documentation and ensure compliance with accounting policies and procedures.
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, controls, and efficiencies.
• Partner with operations and other departments to understand financial activity and resolve accounting issues.
• Assist with audits and provide supporting schedules and documentation as needed.Take ownership of accounting projects and other responsibilities as assigned.
