Cherry Bekaert Recruiting seeks an experienced Senior Accountant to join a growing construction-focused organization. The role is hands-on and individual contributor, covering full-cycle accounting from AP/AR to close and financial reporting, including payroll and complex project billing.

You will manage job costing, project accounting, and coordination with operations to ensure accurate revenue recognition and cost tracking. Onsite work in Gaithersburg, MD is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in construction industry accounting.
• Hands-on QuickBooks experience.
• Strong job costing and project accounting knowledge.
• Experience with complex project-based billing.
• Full-cycle accounting experience including AP, AR, GL, reconciliations.
• Payroll processing experience.
• Detail-oriented with ability to manage multiple accounting tasks.
• Onsite work in Gaithersburg, MD (5 days/week).

Responsibilities

• Manage the full accounting cycle as a hands-on individual contributor
• Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Perform job costing and project accounting for construction projects
• Prepare and process complex customer and project billing
• Manage payroll processing
• Complete monthly account reconciliations and month-end close
• Prepare monthly financial statements and financial reporting
• Monitor project costs and maintain accurate project accounting records
• Research and resolve billing, accounting, and reconciliation discrepancies
• Maintain accurate general ledger activity
• Support external audit requests and provide necessary schedules and documentation
• Partner with operations and project teams to ensure accurate accounting and billing for projects
• Assist with additional accounting and financial projects as needed
