Job summary

Oakland County is seeking a General Helper in the Safety Division to help protect County‑owned buildings by monitoring facilities, identifying safety concerns, and responding appropriately. The onsite role pays $16.71-$22.61 per hour, with duties including routine patrols, reporting incidents, and assisting with radio communications while following safety and emergency procedures.

Ideal candidates are dependable, observant, and ready to maintain a safe and secure environment for county employees

Qualifications

Must be at least 18 years old (or 16 with high school diploma or GED) and pass the employment exam and medical.
Valid US driver's license required for positions that require driving.
Out-of-country licenses must be converted to Michigan license before hire date.

Responsibilities

Monitor County‑owned buildings and surrounding areas for safety and security concerns.
Conduct routine patrols of assigned buildings and areas.
Report incidents, hazards, or unusual activity promptly to the appropriate personnel.
Assist with radio communications and relay important information as needed.
Follow safety, security, and emergency procedures while staying aware of building activity.
