Job summary

The Bowery Mission is a Christian, faith-based organization in New York dedicated to serving people experiencing homelessness and poverty. The Residential Manager, Community Life, lives onsite and leads a trauma-informed team to ensure safety, hospitality, and mission-aligned programming across the campus.

Responsibilities include supervising interns, coordinating Work Therapy, overseeing building access, fire safety, and group meetings, and reporting according to policy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in human services, hospitality management, or related field preferred or combination of education and experience.
• 4+ years coordinating or supervising in a residential program or similar ministry setting; proven team leadership.
• F-80 Fire Safety certification or able to obtain within 60 days.
• Ability to identify building/facility needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage residential community operations to create a safe, welcoming environment.
• Oversee room preparation, access control, and cleaning/maintenance for the missional community.
• Supervise and train residential interns and alumnae; coach and support staff partnerships.
• Provide on-call coverage 4 nights per week (11 PM–7 AM) including some weekends.
• Recordkeeping and reporting per TBM policy; host events and tours; ensure safety protocols.
