Job summary

A growing manufacturer of custom-engineered materials in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Quality Engineer to strengthen the quality function across two nearby facilities. This is the sole site-level Quality Engineer position, working closely with the Quality Manager on customer complaints, CAPAs, root-cause investigations, and data-driven improvements.

The role is hands-on and on the factory floor, requiring collaboration with operators and engineers.

Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing environment with process focus.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities on the factory floor.
• Ability to translate data into corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Manage customer complaints and CAPA activities from investigation to closure.
• Work with customers to obtain information and samples for investigations.
• Analyze quality metrics and manufacturing data to identify trends and risks.
• Lead root-cause investigations with operations, engineering, and quality teams.
• Develop and implement corrective/preventive actions for sustainable improvements.
• Drive continuous-improvement initiatives to prevent recurring issues.
• Perform inspections, testing, sampling, and internal audits.
• Develop and validate quality standards, methods, and test methods.
• Use Excel and statistical tools to support investigations and decisions.
• Track KPIs and identify emerging product/process risks.
• Support both Grand Rapids facilities based on needs.
