Job summary

Gotham Enterprises Ltd in Newark, NJ, is seeking a dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant to join our state-of-the-art rehabilitation facility. In this full-time, onsite role you will assist licensed Physical Therapists in delivering therapeutic plans to improve mobility, strength, and quality of life.

You will work Monday–Friday 8:00 am–5:00 pm in a hospital environment, collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to support patient-centered care and uphold high professional standards.

Qualifications

• Associate degree from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
• Current and valid state license or certification as a Physical Therapist Assistant.
• Strong foundational knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and the principles of physical therapy interventions.
• Demonstrated proficiency in enhancing patient rehabilitation through therapeutic exercises under the supervision of a Physical Therapist.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of building rapport with patients and working collaboratively with the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with licensed Physical Therapists to implement individualized treatment plans, focusing on enhancing patients' mobility, strength, and functional capabilities.
• Guide patients through a variety of therapeutic exercises, stretches, and activities designed to promote physical well-being and alleviate pain.
• Educate patients on proper body mechanics and provide instruction on home exercise programs to facilitate continuity of care beyond the clinic.
• Utilize modalities such as electrical stimulation, ultrasound, and heat/cold therapy under the direction of the supervising Physical Therapist.
• Monitor and document patient progress meticulously, tracking key metrics such as range of motion, muscle strength, and functional improvements.
• Prepare treatment areas, ensuring that all equipment and supplies are organized and readily available for smooth therapy sessions.
• Work in tandem with an interdisciplinary team, including Occupational Therapists and Speech-Language Pathologists, to create a cohesive approach to patient care.
• Provide emotional support to patients during their rehabilitation journey, fostering a positive and encouraging environment to aid recovery.
• Maintain adherence to professional standards and ethical practices, ensuring patient confidentiality is upheld.
