Job summary

Audubon is seeking a Project Engineer to join a on-site project team at a client facility in Romeoville, IL. The role acts as the primary on-site resource, coordinating with home office, plant personnel, and contractors to keep projects on track and within budget.

Responsibilities include supporting capital project execution, developing scopes and budgets, managing vendor bids, and maintaining project documentation.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in project engineering or lead engineering roles.
• Engineering degree required, Mechanical preferred.
• Construction/Project engineering background considered with relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Support capital project execution and day-to-day engineering needs with home and corporate teams and on-site leadership.
• Act as liaison between corporate engineering, plant operations, contractors, and vendors.
• Track actions and schedules and coordinate with site and home teams.
• Lead small-to-mid size capital projects from concept through installation and startup.
• Maintain core project documentation (Action Items, Schedules, Cost Reports).
• Develop preliminary project scopes, budgets, and schedules for capital projects and plant initiatives.
• Coordinate with equipment vendors to specify, evaluate, and procure process equipment.
• Solicit and review bids from contractors and prepare bid tabs for client review.
• Manage contractor activities on-site to ensure safety, schedule, and budget adherence.
• Plan work around production downtime; support installation with weekend and extended hours during shutdowns.
• Provide hands-on engineering support to maintenance teams for troubleshooting and improvements.
• Track progress and communicate status, escalate risks or delays as needed.
