Job summary

Nexus MedPro Staffing seeks a Primary Care Registered Nurse (RN) to join a local contract at the Dayton VA Medical Center in Dayton, OH. The RN will deliver direct patient care, comprehensive assessments, and care coordination within primary care services for Veterans.

Responsibilities include clinical assessments, patient education, and teamwork with physicians and nurses. The role requires ACEN/CCNE-accredited education, Ohio RN licensure, and VA credentialing readiness.

Qualifications

• Graduation from ACEN- or CCNE-accredited nursing programs at time of graduation.
• Active Ohio RN license.
• AHA CPR, BLS; ACLS if specialty clinic.
• 1 year of direct patient care in last 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments, including vital signs, pain assessment, and evaluation of patient symptoms.
• Review medical histories, current medications, allergies, and relevant clinical information.
• Administer prescribed medications, injections, immunizations, and treatments within the RN scope of practice.
• Perform routine outpatient nursing procedures, wound care, and dressing changes as appropriate.
• Support diagnostic testing, clinical examinations, and other provider-ordered procedures.
• Apply infection prevention, patient identification, and medication safety protocols.
• Coordinate care with primary care providers, specialty services, pharmacy, social work, and other team members.
• Assist with referrals, testing, and follow-up appointments.
• Support continuity of care after ER visits or hospital discharge.
• Provide patient and family education regarding diagnoses and home care.
