Job summary

Island View Casino Resort in Gulfport, MS is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead payroll operations and supervise the payroll team. You will ensure accurate, timely payroll processing, maintain compliance with federal/state laws, and partner with Finance and HR on reporting and process improvements.

The role requires strong leadership, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to handle confidential information while supporting audits and internal controls.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, or related field required.
• 5–6+ years in Payroll, Accounting, or bookkeeping.
• 2–3 years payroll management or supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of payroll processing, taxation, benefits, and compliance.
• Experience with payroll systems and reporting tools.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee all payroll processing activities to ensure accurate and timely payment of employees.
• Supervise, develop, and provide direction to payroll staff.
• Maintain, review, and optimize payroll processing systems and procedures.
• Ensure accurate processing of salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, deductions, and other payroll transactions.
• Audit payroll earnings, deductions, taxes, and related transactions for accuracy.
• Prepare and oversee payroll-related reports, including governmental and regulatory filings.
• Provide ad hoc reporting, analysis, and documentation to Finance, Human Resources, and other authorized stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state payroll laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.
• Oversee payroll tax and benefits compliance and reporting.
• Coordinate and support internal and external payroll audits.
• Maintain compliance with SOX requirements and internal controls.
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, increase efficiency, and optimize system capabilities.
• Partner with HR, Finance, and other departments to resolve payroll issues and support business needs.
