Job summary

UCHealth Eye Center Anschutz in Aurora, CO is hiring for an onsite Ophthalmic Assistant/Technician role. You will assist eye care providers, perform ophthalmic tests, administer medications, and help onboard new staff in a fast-paced clinic.

Requirements include COA/COT/COMT/NCLEC certification options, a high school diploma, and 2 years ophthalmic training; BLS/CPR is required. This is a full-time onsite position with a clear career ladder and competitive pay.

Qualifications

• Certified Ophthalmic Assistant, Tech NCLE Advanced Certification or equivalent.
• Education: High School diploma or GED.
• 2 years sponsored on-the-job ophthalmic training or internship.
• BLS/CPR for the Professional Rescuer with valid through hire date.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care and ophthalmic workflows under provider supervision.
• Perform basic ophthalmic testing, diagnostics, and medication administration; orient new staff.
• Assist with minor procedures and prescription refills under provider direction.
• Document, educate patients, and support efficient patient flow; contribute to onboarding.
• Use critical thinking and work with minimal supervision in a fast-paced clinic.

Education

High School diploma or GED

Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) or Certified Ophthalmic Technician (COT) or Certified Ophthalmic Medical Technologist (COMT) or NCLEC

2 years ophthalmic training or internship

BLS / CPR for the Professional Rescuer (AHA or ARC)
