Job summary

Strategic Management Solutions, LLC (SMSI) seeks a full-time Mechanical Nuclear Facilities Engineer to serve as Cognizant Mechanical System Engineer (CSE) for the Weapons Surveillance Systems at Los Alamos National Laboratory in Los Alamos, NM. The role requires an active DOE Q clearance and on-site work 4–5 days a week, with a 30-hour minimum and 40-hour preference.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field is required or equivalent experience.
• Active DOE Q clearance or ability to reinstate quickly is required.
• Extensive experience with nuclear facility engineering and design standards.

Responsibilities

• Qualify as Cognizant System Engineer (CSE) at LANL.
• Assess, maintain, and upgrade WETF facility systems.
• Manage configuration control and MEL for assigned systems.
• Review designs for code compliance and customer needs.
• Coordinate across multiple engineering disciplines and lifetime support.
• Develop mentoring and training for junior staff.
