Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking an experienced Network Engineer to support a DOE security environment in Amarillo, TX. This role is fully onsite and requires an active DoD Top Secret or DOE Q clearance.

The Network Engineer will maintain highly available enterprise network infrastructure, troubleshoot incidents, manage lifecycle upgrades, and support NOC/SOC telemetry within a secure DOE environment. Strong Cisco routing/switching expertise and DoD clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience, Master’s with 2+ years, or 10+ years of combined relevant education/training/experience in lieu of a degree.
• 5+ years of relevant networking experience, including Cisco enterprise routing and switching.
• Experience supporting secure, highly available enterprise network environments.
• Active DoD Top Secret w/ eligibility for DOE Q, or currently active DOE Q security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Maintain 99.9% availability of core network infrastructure, including routers, switches, and data center fabrics, while resolving network incidents and service outages within established SLAs.
• Develop and execute network lifecycle, upgrade, patching, and rollback plans to support infrastructure stability and availability.
• Monitor network devices, support NOC/SOC onboarding and telemetry reporting, and provide recommendations for performance optimization, capacity planning, and remediation.
• Support Cisco ISE authentication, authorization, access control services, Network Access Devices, and identity groups.
• Administer wireless LAN infrastructure, access point deployments, and VoIP services, including moves, adds, changes, and deletions.
• Manage load balancers, DNS, DHCP, and IPAM environments supporting enterprise network operations.
• Maintain technical documentation, diagrams, inventories, and change records while managing RFCs through ServiceNow and established CAB processes.
