Job summary

Peraton is seeking a Linux System Administrator to support Linux-based development, testing, training and production environments for DoD-related web applications. The role emphasizes NIST 800-53 security controls, patching and evidence gathering for audits, and collaboration across IT teams.

The position is based in Clearfield, Utah, with occasional after-hours support. Applicants should have a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent), practical Linux administration experience in RHEL, and scripting

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
• 2+ years of Linux administration in server environments.
• Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
• Proficiency in Linux-based shell scripting.
• Some SQL familiarity and experience with databases.
• Interest in CISSP certification or related security credentials.
• Ability to work onsite in Clearfield, UT five days a week.
• U.S. Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Provide input on architecture decisions for middle-tier changes.
• Evaluate new technologies and recommend viable solutions.
• Collaborate with data center operations to ensure seamless deployments and documentation.
• Maintain environments with security updates, patches, and certification standards.
• Support testing, development, and deployment activities across environments.
• Assist development, implementation, and help-desk teams with issues (local and remote).
• Stand up, maintain, back up, tune, and secure physical and virtual servers and related components.
• Provide after-hours or weekend support for production deployments.
