Job summary

Activ8 Recruitment & Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented Junior Staff Accountant to join our client’s team in Jericho, NY. The role supports daily accounting operations and financial reporting in a fast-paced freight forwarding environment.

Responsibilities include AP/AR processing, bank reconciliations, reporting, and collaboration with the HQ team. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field is required, with 1–2 years of experience and strong Excel skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field is required or equivalent experience.
• 1–2 years of accounting or bookkeeping experience.
• Proficiency in English (written and verbal).
• Asian language skills (Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, etc.) are a big asset but not mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Manage credit control and monitor customer accounts.
• Handle Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes.
• Perform bank reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial records.
• Communicate and collaborate with HQ accounting team (5 staff members).
• Liaise with local branch offices, operations teams, and branch managers via email and phone.
• Learn and utilize CODA to run reports and post journal entries.
• Review shipment data using Descartes (ONEVIEW) and CargoWise.
• Coordinate overseas settlements with international offices and agents.
• Assist with financial reporting and support the Accounting Manager.
• Other duties as assigned.
