Job summary

Vero Orthopaedics is seeking an Insurance Benefits Verification Specialist to join our onsite team in Vero Beach, FL. The role focuses on confirming patient insurance details, determining coverage, and documenting results to ensure timely access to care.

The ideal candidate will navigate payer portals, verify eligibility, and communicate outcomes to care teams, while maintaining accuracy and confidentiality in a busy orthopaedic practice.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in insurance benefits verification, medical billing, patient access, or healthcare administration.
• Familiarity with commercial insurance, Medicare, and Medicare Advantage plans.
• Experience navigating payer websites and eligibility verification systems.
• Understanding of healthcare terminology, insurance coverage, deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient insurance eligibility, coverage, and benefits for medical services.
• Contact insurance companies by phone or through online payer portals to obtain accurate benefit information.
• Determine patient-specific coverage details, including deductibles, copayments, coinsurance, out-of-pocket costs, and coverage limitations.
• Identify referral, prior authorization, and other insurance requirements.
• Review and update insurance benefit information regularly to ensure accuracy.
• Research insurance discrepancies and work to resolve coverage-related issues.
• Accurately document verification results in the electronic medical record and other applicable systems.
• Communicate important insurance information to appropriate departments to help prevent delays in patient care.
• Maintain organized and accurate records while managing multiple verification requests.
• Assist with additional revenue cycle projects and administrative responsibilities as assigned.
