Job summary

Verticore Technolgy is seeking an Information Security Engineer to safeguard business systems through risk investigation, security control improvements, and support for incident response and vulnerability remediation.

The role blends security monitoring, technical investigation, and preventive activities, with clear documentation and risk communication to stakeholders. Location is Milwaukee, onsite, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

Qualifications

• Experience in information security or cybersecurity engineering.
• Strong understanding of access controls and risk assessment.
• Familiarity with TCP/IP, DNS, firewalls, and secure communications.
• Experience in Windows or Linux environments and system administration tasks.
• Ability to review logs, investigate alerts, and troubleshoot problems.
• Understanding of identity management, authentication, and permissions.
• Familiarity with vulnerability assessment and remediation processes.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail with security data.
• Clear written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Review configurations to identify security weaknesses and recommend actions.
• Investigate security alerts and unusual account activity using logs.
• Implement and maintain security controls across endpoints, networks, and apps.
• Review access permissions to ensure least-privilege access.
• Assess vulnerabilities and coordinate remediation with technical teams.
• Support incident response with evidence gathering and containment.
• Monitor security events and improve detection of suspicious activity.
• Review infrastructure changes for security concerns.
• Maintain security procedures, incident records, and documentation.
• Support endpoint protection, monitoring, and vulnerability management.
• Collaborate with IT and development to address security issues.
• Communicate risks and remediation work to stakeholders.
