Job summary

Blue Ridge Automation is seeking a full-time Automation Technician to support engineering and maintenance with electrical and automation troubleshooting, start-up, and commissioning to reduce downtime and increase production. The role may involve on-site client work or working from the Blue Ridge office.

The position requires strong knowledge of electrical systems, PLCs, HMI/SCADA, and industrial communications, along with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow safety

Qualifications

• 3+ years of industrial electrical or service experience.
• Understanding of PLC programming methods.
• Experience with HMI & SCADA.
• Experience with Industrial Communications (ASi, DeviceNet, Ethernet).
• Ability to apply preventive and predictive maintenance methods.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams and tech docs.
• Ability to work both in teams and independently.
• Familiarity with 480V and 277V systems.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, repair, and install electrical equipment, motors, VFDs, control components, instrumentation, PLCs.
• Interpret electrical diagrams, mechanical schematics, OEM blueprints, and other docs.
• Follow site SOPs and safety standards; manage customer permit processes.
• Complete daily planned work orders per SOPs.
• Communicate effectively with plant operations to maintain client relationships.
• Coordinate with Plant Planner/Supervisor for improvements and repairs.
• Utilize customer CMMS system for maintenance activities.
• Source materials in emergencies.
• Perform other duties aligned with the role.
