Job summary

Adara Communities in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced HR & Payroll Manager to lead payroll, benefits, employee relations, and HRIS administration. This hands-on leadership role requires ensuring accuracy, compliance, and an exceptional employee experience in a fully in-office environment.

The ideal candidate will partner with managers, manage performance processes, support recruiting and onboarding, and drive policy development for a multi-site workforce.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or a related field required.
• Minimum of 3 years of progressive Human Resources experience with payroll, benefits, and employee relations.
• Lead or HR management experience preferred.
• Paycom experience strongly preferred, including payroll, records, onboarding, and HRIS functions.
• Experience in multifamily property management or real estate is highly preferred.
• Experience supporting a multi-site or geographically dispersed workforce is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of employment laws, compensation practices, and HR processes.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Comfortable in a fully in-office environment.

Responsibilities

• Oversee payroll and benefits functions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
• Review and approve pay increases, promotions, demotions, and compensation adjustments.
• Lead employee relations, coaching managers, and handling disciplinary matters.
• Serve as escalation point for sensitive employee concerns and workplace conflicts.
• Ensure HR processes and documentation meet laws and company policies.
• Partner with hiring managers on recruiting, screening, interviews, offers, and onboarding.
• Support onboarding/offboarding and performance management initiatives.
• Assist with development and refinement of HR policies and procedures.
• Maintain and audit HRIS employee records for accuracy and completeness.
• Collaborate on strategic HR initiatives, retention efforts, and cross-functional projects.
