Job summary

KIPP DC Public Schools in Washington, DC is seeking an In House Substitute Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. This in-person role covers classrooms when teachers are absent and supports instruction under the lead teacher’s guidance.

The position runs daily from roughly 8:00 am to 3:30 pm, with extended hours on some days for planning and professional development. Strong classroom management and a commitment to equity are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Commitment to working with students from communities with limited access to high-quality educational opportunities.
• Ability to assist reading, writing, and mathematics instruction.
• Strong communication with families and caregivers, including culturally responsive partnership.

Responsibilities

• Build trusting relationships with students, families, and teammates.
• Internalize, adapt, and deliver standards-aligned lessons as provided.
• Collaborate with staff and participate in planning/feedback meetings.
• Support school events and daily classroom duties.
