Job summary

Washington Yu Ying Public Charter School in Washington state is seeking an in-house Substitute Teacher to cover regular teacher duties when absent. The role runs 8am-4pm, Monday through Friday, for the Education department, with a 10-month term and part-time hours (0-20 per week).

The substitute will implement lesson plans, manage classrooms, collaborate with teaching staff, and align with school policies and IB PYP approaches to support student learning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in education preferred.
• 1 year of classroom teaching experience preferred; 2+ years in early childhood/elementary preferred.
• Familiarity with IB Primary Years Program framework and inquiry-based teaching methods preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as classroom teacher for assigned grade levels when needed and follow lesson plans.
• Carry out regular teacher’s lesson plans in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Maintain a supportive classroom environment and uphold student conduct.
• Collaborate with teaching team and other staff to plan effective instruction.
• Supervise students during the day and support school culture and routines.
