Job summary

Johnson Controls in Dallas, TX is seeking a Fire Alarm Construction Manager to lead field installation projects on a daily basis, coordinating customers, installers and partners to keep work safe, on schedule and financially on track.

The ideal candidate is hands-on, entrepreneurial, with 5–10 years in commercial fire alarm installation, strong project management, estimating, and proficiency with Excel and Windows.

Qualifications

• 5-10 years of management experience in fire alarm installation within the commercial industry.
• Project management experience.
• Estimating experience.
• Fire Alarm, Access Controls, and CCTV certifications.
• Experience with Excel and other Microsoft products.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Proficiency with personal computers, including Windows 7/XP/NT/2000.
• Strong field presence and the ability to spend 70%-80% of the time visiting project sites and customers.
• Knowledge of P&L.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations of construction installation projects for fire alarm systems.
• Coach and mentor technicians, apprentices, and other direct reports.
• Order materials and equipment needed to support project execution.
• Monitor project financials, budgets, and hours assigned to each job.
• Maintain installer schedules and coordinate labor planning with operations.
• Provide accurate project status updates during WIP meetings.
• Attend construction meetings and interface with end‑users, architects, and general contractors.
• Conduct regular job site safety walkthroughs, EHS evaluations, and accident investigations.
• Support interviewing and evaluation of employees and apprentices as needed.
