Job summary

Fort Valley State University is seeking an Assistant Director of Facilities Management to serve as the primary operational liaison between the campus and Facilities Management. This role provides leadership and oversees daily facilities operations and assumes duties in the Director’s absence.

The position requires independent decision-making, management of ongoing maintenance operations, and oversight of MR&R initiatives, with a focus on maintaining campus facilities, systems, and services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least five years of supervisory experience.
• At least five years in facilities operations, maintenance, or project management.
• Ability to read and interpret plans and technical documents.

Responsibilities

• Plans, manages, and oversees daily facilities maintenance operations across campus.
• Oversees CMMS, prioritizes and tracks work orders.
• Leads MRR projects and capital planning activities.
• Represents Facilities Management in project planning and execution.
• Develops scopes of work and coordinates procurement activities.
• Manages contractors, vendors, and compliance.
• Performs site inspections and ensures proper project closeout.
• Oversees building systems (MEP) operations and maintenance.
• Leads staffing, onboarding, training, and performance management.
• Provides after-hours institutional support as needed.
