Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a Hazardous Waste Technician to assist in identifying, packaging, and lab packing hazardous and non-hazardous waste at client sites, and to support spill response activities on site. The role includes hands-on duties and on-site safety responsibilities.

Responsibilities include waste pickups, bulking, packaging and labeling, forklift operation, drum inspections, and ensuring safe loading of waste hauling vehicles.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of related experience in hazardous/waste handling (implied by qualifications)
• Ability to pass 40-hour HAZWOPER Training upon hire (minimum qualification)
• Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for assisting in the collection, identification and proper packaging and/or lab packing of hazardous and non-hazardous waste as well as administrative duties at the client site as well as spill response activities on site.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Making waste pickups throughout a customer's facility.
• Conducting chemical bulking and consolidation.
• Packaging and labeling waste products to maximize efficiency and maintain compliance.
• Participating in spill response on customer's site as needed.
• Operating forklifts or sweepers.
• Inspecting drums for container integrity and regulatory compliance.
• Ensuring the safe loading and unloading of waste hauling vehicles.
• Completing waste stream sampling and profiling.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to use heavy and light equipment, such as forklift, and pallet-jack.
• Skilled using hand and shop tools, and instruments.
• Demonstrates, accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail.
• Must be able to prioritize, stay focused and handle multiple, diverse responsibilities.
• A valid driver's license may be required for some positions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• 2 or more years of related experience.
• Ability to pass 40-hour HAZWOPER Training upon hire.

Pay Range:

The pay range for this position is $25.45 to $34.97* which reflects the minimum wage in multiple jurisdictions.

The actual range will depend on the locality in which you are hired.
