Job summary

Republic Services in Lockhart, TX is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to safely operate light and heavy equipment at our hazardous waste treatment facility or landfill. You will assist in off-loading trucks, stabilize waste, and support treatment processes.

The role requires accuracy, focus, and the ability to manage multiple tasks. A valid driver’s license may be required for some positions, and 40-hour HAZWOPER (with 8-hour refresher) is preferred.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Heavy Equipment Operator safely operates various light and heavy equipment in a hazardous waste treatment processing facility or landfill.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assists in off-loading trucks and unloading waste.
• Operates equipment to stabilize and handle waste.
• Processes treatment of materials and containers.
• Samples post-treated materials for testing by laboratory.
• Loads cleared post-treatment materials for shipment to landfill or disposal.
• Performs general preventative maintenance to equipment and general housekeeping.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Knowledge of light and heavy equipment operation.
• Ability to use hand and power tools applicable.
• Knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance, including (but not limited to): check tire pressure, check oil and water levels.
• Demonstrates, accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail.
• Must be able to prioritize, stay focused and handle multiple, diverse responsibilities.
• A valid driver's license may be required for some positions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Currently hold a 40-hour HAZWOPER (with 8-hour refresher) or ability to pass course upon hire, only required for all Environmental Solutions lines of business.
