Job summary

Veolia North America is hiring an Onsite Environmental Technician to prepare tractor trailers for waste loads and oversee loading of non-hazardous waste at customer sites. You will monitor loading flow and guide drivers to ensure even distribution while maintaining detailed logs.

The role requires 2+ years of hazardous materials experience, ability to operate forklifts and pallet jacks, and willingness to work outdoors in all conditions with full PPE. Benefits are included.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience with hazardous materials.
  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to operate forklift and pallet jack.
  • Visual acuity to read labels and documentation; depth perception to drive forklifts.
  • Ability to work outdoors in all climate conditions and indoors in non-climate-controlled conditions.
  • Willingness to wear PPE including safety glasses, hard hat, steel-toed shoes, gloves, Tyvek coveralls, and respirator.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor flow of waste inside the tractor trailer.
  • Instruct Driver when to move the tractor trailer for even loading.
  • Complete log entries with times, weights, activities, and staff details.
  • Maintain clean work area by sweeping and power washing trailer interior and bays.
  • Place plastic liners inside empty trailers prior to loading of waste.
  • Transport delivered liners to storage area.
  • Follow health and safety and JSA procedures.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned by management.

The Onsite Environmental Technician works under minimal supervision at a customer site preparing tractor trailers to receive waste loads and overseeing the proper loading of non-hazardous waste onto tractor trailers.

  • Monitor the flow of waste being loaded inside tractor trailer.
  • Instruct Driver when to move the tractor trailer to ensure evenly distributed loading of trailer.
  • Complete log entries, recording times, weights, activities, and staff details.
  • Responsible for maintaining clean work area by sweeping and power washing trailer interior and surrounding bay(s) as needed.
  • Place plastic liners inside empty trailers prior to loading of waste.
  • Transport delivered liners to storage area.
  • Follow all health and safety and Job Safety Analysis (JSA) procedures.
  • Perform other reasonably related tasks as assigned by management.

Pay $21.00 hourly

Qualifications
Basic Requirements
  • 2+ years of prior experience working with hazardous materials
  • High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required
  • Ability to operate equipment, including a forklift and pallet jack
  • Visual acuity to read labels and documentation; depth perception to safely drive forklifts
  • Ability to hear vehicle warning chimes and alarms
  • Ability to work outdoors in all climate conditions and indoors in non-climate-controlled conditions
  • Willingness and ability to wear company-issued personal protection equipment including safety glasses, hard had, steel toed shoes, gloves, Tyvek coveralls, and respirator.
Preferred Requirement
  • Basic computer skills to complete web-based training
  • Ability to understand and respond to written and verbal English
  • Ability to predictably and regularly attend work during scheduled hours. Must be willing and able to occasionally work nights, weekends and variable schedule(s) as necessary.
  • Ability to deal politely and professionally with customers and coworkers.
