Job summary

Veolia seeks an Onsite Environmental Technician in Chandler, AZ to prepare tractor trailers for waste loading and oversee the proper loading of non-hazardous waste. You will monitor loading flow, guide drivers for even distribution, and maintain logs and site cleanliness.

This role requires 2+ years handling hazardous materials, a high school diploma or GED, and the ability to operate a forklift and pallet jack. PPE is required; the position is full-time with benefits.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of prior experience working with hazardous materials.
• High School diploma or GED required.
• Ability to operate equipment including a forklift and pallet jack.
• Visual acuity to read labels and documentation; depth perception to safely drive forklifts.
• Ability to hear vehicle warning chimes and alarms.
• Able to work outdoors in all climate conditions and indoors in non-climate-controlled conditions.
• Willingness to wear company-issued PPE including safety glasses, hard hat, steel-toed shoes, gloves, Tyvek coveralls, and respirator.

Responsibilities

• Perform other reasonably related tasks as assigned by management.

The Onsite Environmental Technician works under minimal supervision at a customer site preparing tractor trailers to receive waste loads and overseeing the proper loading of non-hazardous waste onto tractor trailers.

• Monitor the flow of waste being loaded inside tractor trailer.
• Instruct Driver when to move the tractor trailer to ensure evenly distributed loading of trailer.
• Complete log entries, recording times, weights, activities, and staff details.
• Responsible for maintaining clean work area by sweeping and power washing trailer interior and surrounding bay(s) as needed.
• Place plastic liners inside empty trailers prior to loading of waste.
• Transport delivered liners to storage area.

• Ability to understand and respond to written and verbal English
• Ability to predictably and regularly attend work during scheduled hours. Must be willing and able to occasionally work nights, weekends and variable schedule(s) as necessary.
• Ability to deal politely and professionally with customers and coworkers.
