Job summary

Triumvirate Environmental seeks an Environmental Specialist to support Lab & Onsite Services (Lab/OSS) on-site at client locations in the Raleigh/Durham area. You will manage hazardous waste programs and projects, ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations while delivering exceptional customer service.

The role reports to the Operations Manager and requires strong communication, analytical, and teamwork skills, along with willingness to participate in an emergency response rotation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in the hazardous-waste industry, or relevant military experience.
• Ability to work as a member of a team as well as individually.
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities to effectively interact with clients, colleagues, and stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze complex issues, develop solutions, and implement strategies to achieve positive outcomes.
• Skilled in building strong, positive relationships with clients and colleagues.
• Ability to work overtime on a regular basis.
• Flexible hours within the work week (Mon–Fri).
• Ability to complete a 2 to 3 year professional advancement program in hazardous waste management.
• Safety-sensitive handling of hazardous chemicals and biological waste; PPE usage.
• Must report to Raleigh office within 1 hour during Emergency Response rotating shifts.
• Valid US driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Consent to MVR, background check, pre-employment physical, and drug screen (THC).
• Random drug screening program eligibility (THC).
• Must be eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
• Must be able to lift 60 pounds regularly.

Responsibilities

• Develop an understanding of OSHA regulations and Triumvirate’s Health and Safety practices.
• Prepare chemical and biological waste for shipment and disposal, including documents and paperwork.
• Safe handling of hazardous waste containers on client sites and loading/unloading waste.
• Conduct safety equipment and hazardous waste inspections.
• Occasionally perform and document Environmental Health and Safety audits for clients.
• Deliver exceptional customer service and innovative solutions to clients.
• Develop regulatory expertise to meet client compliance needs (RCRA, DOT, OSHA).
• Conduct spill response measures and assess cleanup efforts.
• Rotating on-call responsibilities as part of the Emergency Response team.
