GM Performance Power Units in Concord, NC is seeking an Energy Storage Battery Test Engineer to own the execution and continuous improvement of battery test activities across cells, modules, and packs. This hands-on role translates test requirements into robust setups, operates test rigs, and delivers high-quality data to support rapid design cycles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related engineering with 2+ years of battery test experience.
• Familiarity with instrumentation systems, sensors, and electronics; skilled in data acquisition.
• Able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced development environment; willingness to extend hours or shifts.
• Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, and safety-conscious.

Responsibilities

• Interpret and execute test requirements defined by lead engineers.
• Collaborate with engineers and technicians to meet testing objectives.
• Install battery packs, modules, and cells for testing.
• Design and fabricate tooling and fixtures for test setups.
• Operate test cells and support equipment with adherence to standards.
• Troubleshoot issues and implement corrective actions.
• Document and report test data clearly and accurately.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.
• Maintain and optimize test equipment and procedures.
• Ensure safety protocols during all testing operations.
• Organize and lead work with outside suppliers as needed.
