Job summary

UChicago Medicine is seeking an Electrician for the Facilities Administration department at the Hyde Park campus. This is a 100% onsite role based in the greater Chicagoland area.

The Electrician will maintain and repair all types of electrical wiring and equipment used in the Medical Center. The position requires journeyman-level experience, a completed electrical apprentice program, and a Class B license, with extensive knowledge of electrical codes and safety practices.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required.
• Five years journeyman or senior level experience.
• Completion of electrical apprentice program; Class “B” electricians card.
• Knowledge of electrical codes.
• Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and communicate in writing.
• Knowledge of safety rules, practices and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and repairs all types of electrical wiring and equipment in the Medical Center.
• Inspects equipment and assesses maintenance needs.
• Performs journeyman duties and may lead in absence of supervisor.
• Works from blueprints and schematics to locate circuits and wiring.
• Keeps work area neat, safe and handles paperwork timely.
