Job summary

nLIGHT-DEFENSE Systems is seeking a highly motivated Electrical Engineer to join our Tooling team in Longmont, CO, focusing on designing electrical test equipment, control systems, data acquisition solutions, and optical alignment fixtures for high-energy laser weapon systems within the HADES product line.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams to develop robust tooling, improve production efficiency, and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• Commitment to Excellence and attention to detail.
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline; others considered with tooling experience.
• 5+ years designing, developing, and implementing electrical test equipment and tooling.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement electrical test equipment, control systems, data acquisition solutions, optical alignment tooling, and mechanical fixtures for high-energy laser weapon systems.
• Lead electrical design across quick-turn and long-duration tooling projects, including requirements, schematic design, wiring, documentation, and deployment into production.
• Collaborate with Electrical, Software, Optical, Mechanical, Manufacturing, and Production teams to define tooling requirements and deliver production-ready solutions.
• Develop tooling for low-volume, high-precision electro-optical assemblies, including electrical subsystem checkout and verification.
• Ensure tooling designs meet electrical, safety, and environmental standards and support documentation and risk assessments.
