Job summary

InOpTra Digital is seeking a Data Centre Rack, Cabling & Physical Infrastructure Design Engineer to lead high-density GPU server deployments in onsite Dallas, TX area. The role focuses on rack design, cabling schemes, and electrical layouts for reliable data center infrastructure.

The candidate should have 5–15 years of experience in data centers or electrical projects, with strong AutoCAD/Visio skills and familiarity with Revit/Navisworks.

Qualifications

• 5 to 15 years experience in Data Center or Electrical Projects.
• Strong understanding of high-density GPU/server rack deployments.

Responsibilities

• Define rack elevation and power/cabling strategies for high-density environments.
• Design cable routing, lengths, types and color coding; create labeling schemes.
• Prepare rack layouts, panels, switchgear, UPS, PDU and other electrical equipment.
• Review specs to validate space, power, cooling and connectivity; resolve clashes.
• Create engineering docs: rack elevations, cabling topology, BOM and as-built docs.
• Coordinate with civil, structural, mechanical, and IT teams to align layouts.

Job Description – Data Centre Rack, Cabling & Physical Infrastructure Design Engineer

Education background: Electrical & / Electronics Engineering / ECE/ CSE

Experience: 5 to 15 years

Industry: Data Center / Electrical Projects

Location: Onsite (Dallas, Texas/Virginia, United States)

Key Responsibilities

• Have good understanding and expertise on GPU’s, Racks, designing elevation of racks, rack stack power cable implementation, deployment experience in high-density or cloud environments, GPU structures, Servers, network switches, leaf and spline, placement of servers, network, labelling cables, cable matrix and power consumption, addition of racks, Architecture diagrams,


• Working familiarity with GPU server topologies (NVIDIA GB 300 and B300, or custom high-density AI servers).


• Define cable routing, cable lengths, cable types and cable identification/colour coding, able labelling schemes and cable IDs. Exposure to various cables (DAC/AOC cables, fibre, Cat6A, console, power cables, patch cords)


• Design equipment connections, electrical-network cable routing, electrical and rack layouts. Prepare layouts that consists of panels, cabinets, switchgear, UPS, PDU and other electrical equipment.


• Review equipment specifications and interface requirements, Validate rack space, power, cooling and connectivity requirements, Resolve design clashes and connectivity issues, Support installation and commissioning teams with engineering clarifications.


• Engineering Documentation: includes Rack elevation drawings, Equipment allocation drawings, Cabling topology diagrams, Point-to-point cable schedules, cable matrix, BOM, Rack-wise material schedules, Network connectivity documentation and As-built documentation


• Coordinate electrical layouts with civil, structural, mechanical , Data Centre Architects, MEP engineers, Network Engineers and IT/Infrastructure teams.

Required Skills

• Good knowledge of AutoCAD, Visio


• Knowledge of Revit/Navisworks or 3D design tools is an advantage.


• Data center experience is preferred.


• Good communication and coordination skills.
