Job summary

DataStaff, Inc. in Richmond, VA is seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer for a long-term contract, onsite. You will develop and implement advanced cyber defense solutions, safeguard infrastructure, and ensure deployment to specification.

The ideal candidate will support Splunk SIEM, with strong log analysis, threat hunting, and SPL query writing to identify and contain threats. Excellent problem solving and communication are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
• 8+ years of hands-on cybersecurity experience in SIEM or Splunk.
• Strong written and verbal communication; ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Threat detection and monitoring of network, endpoint, and cloud events.
• Develop, tune, and manage Splunk correlation searches, alerts, and dashboards.
• Lead incident response and remediation with IT and security teams.
• Develop detection and response use cases based on threat intel and MITRE ATT&CK.
• Onboard new data sources and ensure log integrity across the SIEM.
• Support audit readiness with SIEM evidence and compliance reporting.
