Job summary

The candidate must have food service experience or a culinary certificate and obtain a food handler certificate within six months.

Qualifications

• Six months of food service experience or completion of a culinary certificate program.
• Must be certified as a food handler within six months of start date.
• Ability to cook simple meals and assist with more complex dishes.
• Ability to perform display cooking and communicate with customers while doing so.
• Knowledge of sanitary methods and proper handling of food and kitchen equipment.
• Ability to use kitchen, dining room, and food service equipment.
• Ability to follow simple oral and written instructions.
• Ability to establish rapport and work with diverse colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Cooks food in large quantities following recipes and SOPs; may perform display cooking.
• Reads computer-generated recipes and menus for simple meals.
• Cleans cooking equipment, work areas, and dining areas.
• Prepares ingredients and cooks simple dishes.
• Transports food to serving areas and serves diners.
• Assists with more complex dishes and with food preparation for daily meals.
• Roasts, fries, boils, broils, and seasons various foods.
• Measures ingredients and uses utensils/equipment to prepare dishes.
• Evaluates food quality, temperature, and portioning.
