Job summary

Merit Restorations seeks a Corporate Accountant to report to the Controller and work onsite at the Purcellville, VA office. You will ensure accurate balance sheet reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting to support monthly close and leadership decisions.

This role focuses on GAAP compliance, flash reporting, KPI scorecards, and cash flow forecasting, partnering with finance and operations to drive timely, accurate financial information.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
• 3–5+ years of general ledger or senior accounting experience.
• Construction/restoration or project-based services experience preferred.
• Experience with multi-state Personal Property Tax and Sales/Use Tax filing preferred.
• Strong Excel skills and GAAP knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and verify accuracy for Controller review.
• Analyze the monthly WIP schedule, tying job cost and billing to revenue recognition.
• Record and reconcile depreciation and amortization for fixed assets; handle lease accounting per GAAP (ASC 842).
• Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepaids, and support month-end close.
• Own the buildout and maintenance of reports and dashboards using the ERP system; pursue automation opportunities.
• Maintain the monthly financial reporting package and KPI scorecards for leadership insights.
• Assist with weekly/monthly cash flow forecasting and variance analysis.
• Coordinate Personal Property Tax and Sales/Use Tax returns for all applicable states.
• Support audit schedules and respond to auditor requests; assist with acquisition-related accounting.
