Job summary

Cullerton Group in Peoria, IL is seeking a Controls Engineer 1 for a 2nd shift, 100% onsite at the Peoria Proving Ground. This 18-month position involves hands-on work with machines and field testing, focusing on validation and data collection across multiple platforms.

You will prepare machines for testing, troubleshoot issues, and coordinate with engineering teams. Early-career engineers with 0–2 years of experience and Ethernet/CAN knowledge are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• 0–2 years of relevant engineering experience; internship experience accepted.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline preferred.
• Knowledge of Ethernet and CAN communication and ability to troubleshoot systems.
• Strong problem-solving, organization, planning, and communication skills.
• Ability to work 100% onsite and outdoors around machines in varying weather conditions.
• Must be able to follow established safety procedures consistently.
• No visa sponsorship is available for this position.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and execute machine validation and data collection runs.
• Prepare machines for testing, including software flashing, data transfer, and machine readiness checks.
• Verify data collection systems are fully functional before testing and upload collected data to servers for analysis.
• Troubleshoot controls, hardware, Ethernet, CAN, and system communication issues.
• Test, evaluate, modify, and calibrate products and instrumentation.
• Support electrical and controls-related requirements, including motor controls and safety standards.
• Coordinate schedules and testing activities with engineers, technicians, and other team members.
• Follow all required safety procedures and protocols during machine and field testing.
