Job summary

General Motors is seeking a highly motivated Controls Engineer to support production floor automation in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will diagnose, troubleshoot, and improve PLC-based systems, interfaces, and equipment while collaborating with quality, maintenance, and manufacturing teams.

The role requires a BS in Electrical or Computer Engineering, 5+ years in industrial automation, and willingness to work off-shifts.

Qualifications

Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or related field, or equivalent working experience.
5+ years of experience with industrial automation or controls systems.
Availability to work assigned off-shifts, including afternoon and/or night shifts.

Responsibilities

Configure, program, test and troubleshoot PLC based control systems and associated components.
Electrical troubleshooting and testing of controls systems, control panels, and associated equipment.
Diagnose and correct deficiencies in manufacturing processes and equipment.
Develop innovative solutions.
Design and deploy intuitive user interface displays.
Propose and evaluate manufacturing processes and equipment.
Effectively lead and support the installation, start-up, maintenance, and operation of automation systems.
Support and actively interact with manufacturing and quality groups.
Continuously improve quality, cost, responsiveness & safety.
